The 18th anti-government protest, which took place last night downtown Sofia, once again escalated into a march that blocked traffic on the busy Tsarigradsko Shosse Boulevard and other central streets. Earlier, protesters threw pig ears at the building of the Council of Ministers.
People from all over the political spectrum were present, holding a banner reading, "Boyko, thank you for uniting us so we can tell you to resign." The blockade of boulevards caused dissatisfaction among citizens who did not take part in the protests. However, the six-hour protest passed without incident. The demands of protesters remain the same - resignation of Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and the government and resignation of Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev, as well as the introduction of electronic voting and reforms in the judicial system.
Protests took place in other cities across the country. A nationwide protest is being prepared for Wednesday, July 29.
