Diplomats take part in Vitosha 100-kilometer race

More than 580 runners gathered for the 37th edition of the Vitosha 100-kilometer run, bgathletic.com has reported. Among the participants were representatives of 22 countries, including employees of a number of embassies in Bulgaria. The mountain terrain presented many obstacles after the recent heavy rains.

Winner in the competition, which started at midnight on Sunday, is Ivaylo Atanasov with a result of 8.18:20 hours, or 6 minutes more than the current record. In the women's event, winner is Maria Nikolova, who finished in 9.17: 32 hours and improved her own record by 20 minutes.
