300 fires were registered in Bulgarian forests until August 7, 2020, BTA informs. According to data of the Executive Forest Agency, the wildfires destroyed 1,660 hectares of deciduous and coniferous trees, grassland and lands without forests. Hundreds of people employed at the Executive Forest Agency and the state forest enterprises help the teams of firefighters in the fight against the fire calamity on a daily basis. More than 1,230 hectares of forest lands were affected by the largest fire near Lesovo border crossing. Every day, more than 80 forest officials and 15 vehicles are helping the firefighters extinguish this fire. Meanwhile other big fires broke out in other Bulgarian regions. They have been already extinguished by the teams of the state forest enterprises and the Fire Safety and Civil Protection Directorate General. New fires broke out in Haskovo district in the recent hours. Dry grass and deciduous trees are burning in a hard to reach area between the villages of Georgi Dobrevo and Oryahovo, Lubimets Municipality, a correspondent of BNR reports.
