Following two days of debates, Bulgaria’s National Assembly adopted at second reading the amendments to the Electoral Code. Bulgarians will be able to choose whether to vote via paper ballots or voting machines at the next elections. The Central Election Commission has the obligation to provide the technical equipment for the future machine voting. It can either rent or buy voting machines.

The MPs also decided that national referendums may be held on matters in the Grand National Assembly’s field of competence, BNR reports.

The decree issued by President Rumen Radev to impose a veto on the amendments to the Electoral Code is already in the office of the National Assembly, Deputy Speaker of Bulgaria’s Parliament Valeri Simeonov announced.
