The majority of MPs have approved a temporary parliamentary committee to consider the draft new Constitution proposed by GERB. It will work for two months and must make concrete proposals on the draft. The decision was supported by 116 MPs, 60 were against and two abstained.

The commission was to include 18 members - three from each parliamentary group and three independent MPs. However, the opposition, represented by the MRF and the BSP, boycotted the changes to the constitution and only 9 representatives of the ruling coalition and one independent MP joined the final composition. As proposed by GERB, Desislava Atanasova was elected chair, BNR reported.

Atanasova announced that by mid-November the European Commission for Democracy through Law, better known as the Venice Commission, is expected to give an opinion on the draft of the government on new Constitution.
