“We shall not support the Istanbul Convention in any form,” said Kornelia Ninova, chair of the Bulgarian Socialist Party, BSP.

A BSP position welcomes the European Parliament resolution on Bulgaria, in the section in which the government is criticized. But in that resolution there are texts which raise concern, reproaching parties and politicians for not supporting the Istanbul Convention and recommendations that the country find a way to ratify it, Kornelia Ninova says.

The BSP does not support the convention and the party played a major role in its not being approved by Bulgarian parliament, in accordance with the constitution and the national interest of Bulgaria, the document reads.
