Digitalization and robotization to affect labor market: trade union leader

Digitalization will radically change the world labor market, the president of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) Plamen Dimitrov said in the town of Pleven at a discussion named “The future of labor and the challenges in the digital era”. 56% of all jobs will be automated within 20 years. 70% of the employees must learn to work in a different manner, with other technologies and acquire new competences, BNR reports. Digitalization leads to decrease in labor demand. Meanwhile, the world population continues to increase. That is why a shorter working week may alleviate disproportion between the two trends, Plamen Dimitrov contends.
