The Bulgarian rowing expedition called NEVEREST (You never rest until you reach your Everest) has ended successfully in Barbados. Bulgarian father and son - Stefan and Maxim Ivanov, crossed the Atlantic Ocean entirely on their own in the space of 105 days.

They set off from the coast of Portugal on June 14 and reached the Caribbean late last night Bulgarian time. The two have covered a distance of 4,444 nautical miles. Their only stop during the expedition has been on the island of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands, where they spent 9 days troubleshooting the navigation system.

The Ivanovs set anchor in Barbados at 12 noon local time on October 6th.

Maxim Ivanov celebrated his 17th birthday in the ocean. The team states that he is the youngest rower to make such a crossing.

The father (48) and son embarked on the expedition with the aim of promoting organ donor recruitment.

Their trip is part of the "Yes! For life!" - a national campaign to support organ donation and transplantation of the Ministry of Health, which started on November 5, 2019. According to the ministry, nearly 1,200 Bulgarian citizens need organ transplants and live with the hope of leading a normal life.
