Bulgaria and USA sign Roadmap for cooperation in the field of defence

Bulgaria and the US have signed a roadmap for cooperation in the field of defence. This happened at a meeting at the Pentagon between Bulgaria's Defence Minister Krasimir Karakachanov and the US Secretary of Defence Mark Esper. The document confirms the strategic partnership between the two countries, BNR reports.

Bulgaria will receive assistance for the boosting of civil preparedness and military capacity under Article 3 of the NATO Treaty, related to building defence capacity in the event of an armed attack.
Also, deepening of cooperation in the Black Sea region has been declared in order to effectively deter and counteract external threats and challenges at sea and by air.
Cooperation in the field of cybersecurity is also envisaged.
