"By the New Year, the prototype of a Bulgarian vaccine against coronavirus will be ready, then we can start clinical trials",  Assoc. Prof. Penka Petrova, Director of the Laboratory of Experimental Immunology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) said in an interview for the Bulgarian National Television (BNT).

The price of the vaccine will depend on how much the state will be involved in its production. The Bulgarian protein vaccine is based on the genome and is expected to be effective against strains of the virus, Petrova stressed.

According to her, the increase in the number of people infected with coronavirus in Bulgaria in recent days is due to the relaxed measures and the start of the school year.

For better prevention, the scientist recommends a change in diet. It has been established that in case of selenium deficiency in the body there is a higher risk of fatal outcome of the disease, Petrova claims. Selenium is found in traditional Bulgarian foods, such as cereals - wheat, oats, rye.

Seafood is also highly recommended. The human body also needs antioxidants, so taking enough vitamins C and D is recommended.
