During this year four donor situations have occurred after brain death, Bulgaria's Ministry of Health announced on the occasion of the European Day of Organ Donation and Transplantation. Thus, four families have given a second chance for life to Bulgarians in need of transplantation.

Currently, 1145 people are waiting for such an operation in Bulgaria.
On the occasion of the special day, the Ministry of Health created a video to raise public awareness to the topic of organ donation and transplantation and to show why it is important to be in solidarity. The video also offers a challenge: "Support donation and transplantation with 20 words in 20 seconds!"
