Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva and her Albanian counterpart Gent Cakaj discussed in Sofia the European integration of Albania and the possibilities for intensifying bilateral cooperation in the fields of connectivity, economy and tourism. Minister Zaharieva reconfirmed Bulgaria's support for Albania's European integration. "At this stage, we continue to believe that it would be a mistake for Albania and North Macedonia to be separated in the negotiation process. Albania has taken serious steps on the course of reforms," the Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister said.
Cakaj has thanked Bulgaria for its continued support on the path to EU membership and for its role in bringing the Western Balkans back to the European agenda.
