Tourism remains the worst affected sector by the coronavirus crisis. “We are not going to talk about strong winter tourist season as we are expecting a 70% decline in this sector”, Bulgaria’s Deputy Premier and Minister of Tourism Mariana Nikolova said in an interview for BNR.

Minister Nikolova announced that she has been talking with counterparts from neighboring countries to look for ways to avoid closure of borders. Deputy Premier Nikolova reminded that for the purpose the Bulgarian authorities have already held working meetings with Turkey’s Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Ersoy, as well as with the Ambassadors of Greece, Romania and Serbia to Bulgaria. A conversation with North Macedonia’s Ambassador to Sofia is also to be held.
