The construction of Balkan Stream gas pipeline has actually been completed- its Bulgarian and Serbian sections have been connected, the Russian news agency TASS informs without quoting its source of information. According to the same source which is taking part at the construction of the pipeline, the official inauguration ceremony is postponed due to the coronavirus epidemic, BGNES reports.

Balkan Stream is an extension of Turk Stream gas pipeline project. The Bulgarian-Serbian section will allow additional supplies of Russian natural gas for Serbia and Hungary. The extension was named Balkan Project at the proposal of Bulgaria’s Premier Boyko Borissov. The pipeline is 474 kilometers long and will have the capacity to transfer up to 20 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
