During her first official visit to Israel, the foreign minister of Bulgaria Ekaterina Zaharieva met with her Israeli counterpart Gabi Ashkenazi. The two agreed that the two countries should deepen cooperation in spheres of mutual interest, including energy, tourism and trade.
Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva pointed out that in the 30 years since the restoration of diplomatic relations between the two countries “Israel has remained Bulgaria’s closest friend and strategic partner in the Middle East.”
During her visit Minister Zaharieva also met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and with President Reuven Rivlin, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry has announced.
