Bulgaria will be included in a new program for transnational cooperation in the next programming period (2021-2027), said Deputy Minister of Regional Development Denitsa Nikolova. The Interreg European-Mediterranean Program will fund joint projects for facing challenges and ensuring the geographical and geopolitical connectivity of the Black and Mediterranean Seas.

"The vision of the European Commission for the Euro-Mediterranean area is towards cooperation for a smarter, greener and low-carbon Europe, towards a Europe closer to the citizens," Denitsa Nikolova said. Participation in the initiative will provide opportunities for establishing new international partnerships with Greece, Cyprus, Italy, Malta, Slovenia, Croatia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro, as well as with the southern regions of France, Spain and Portugal.
