Hospital capacity in areas with the highest epidemic pressure to be increased

For the five regional centers most affected by the pandemic - Sofia, Blagoevgrad, Plovdiv, Burgas and Shumen, a plan has been created to increase hospital capacity, as well as to include medical trainees. This was what Minister of Health Kostadin Angelov told Prime Minister Boyko Borisov at today's government session, BNT reported.

According to Angelov, the problem with the lack of certain drugs in pharmacies is caused by overstocking. He pointed out that an additional 20,000 packs of the most sought-after medicines would be released on the open market.

Doubts regarding the need for mass testing were expressed at the meeting. According to the Chief State Health Inspector Assoc. Prof. Angel Kunchev, it would only give a current "snapshot" that would be different the next day.

When it comes to antigen tests, it has been suggested that their use is appropriate in case of a limited number of PCR tests or when testing larger groups of people is needed.

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov pointed out that citizens must continue to observe the established principles - disinfection, distance and discipline.
