Modernization of railway transport and installation of digital infrastructure are among the main priorities under the third pillar of the National Recovery and Sustainability Plan after the Covid-19 crisis, BTA informs. At an online discussion about the Connected Bulgaria mechanism aimed at boosting competitiveness and development of the Bulgarian regions, Bulgaria’s Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Rosen Zhelyazkov said that over EUR 1.4 billion from the EU Recovery Fund are earmarked for railway transport and digitization.

The projects in the National Recovery and Sustainability Plan must be fulfilled quickly- by 2026 and two-thirds of the financing must be negotiated in the first two years, this country’s Deputy Premier Tomislav Donchev said at the discussion.
