European procedure opens against Bulgaria over audiovisual content

Photo: ec.europa.eu

The European Commission has launched a procedure against 23 EU countries, including Bulgaria, for failing to introduce a European directive on audiovisual content. The directive aims to create a safer, fairer and more diverse audiovisual landscape, greater protection for viewers, especially the most vulnerable (minors), expanding the scope of hate speech rules in video platforms, as well as safeguards for pluralism in media. Bulgaria must give its answer within two months.
