Hristo Stoichkov bids farewell to Diego Maradona on a social network

Bulgaria’s football legend Hristo Stoichkov who won the 1994 Golden Ball (Ballon d’Or) award commented the sad news about the sudden death of one of the greatest football players of all time - Diego Maradona. Both were also close friends for many years.

“Don Diego has left us,” Stoichkov wrote on his Facebook profile. “An idol I will always admire. Even in bad times, I never stopped loving him. If there is a football throne in heaven, it is for you. Rest in peace, Amigo! Thank you for everything!”, Hristo Stoichkov added and published a photo of Maradona’s farewell match.
