Code yellow warning for dangerous weather in Bulgaria

A code yellow warning for potentially dangerous weather is in place for the entire territory of the country, according to the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology.

In Eastern Bulgaria the precipitation will be wet snow with a moderate to strong North-Northeasterly wind. In the Ludogorie region, in the central regions of Northern Bulgaria, as well as in the mountain passes conditions will be in place for blizzards and drifting snow. In the Southern half of the country temperatures will be higher and the precipitation will be mainly rain.

Minimum temperatures minus 3-2, maximum 0-5 degrees C. In the mountains there will be clouds and snow. At an altitude of 1,200 m. temperatures will be around zero, of 2,000 m. – around minus 3 degrees C.

The Road Infrastructure Agency is advising drivers to use suitable tyres on the road and to drive at a speed appropriate to the weather conditions.
