Historical park near Varna takes grand prize at Annual Tourism Awards

For the fifth time in a row, the Bulgarian Ministry of Tourism has awarded the representatives of businesses, municipalities and media outlets its the Annual Tourism Awards. This year's edition of the competition was held according to rules in accordance with the anti-epidemic measures in the conditions of Covid-19. Only the competition for the grand prize in the category "The Choice of Bulgarians" was preserved in its traditional form.

"In this difficult year, it is important to show good examples in the sector and to assess the achievements in the industry, which despite all the difficulties continues to work," said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism Mariana Nikolova and thanked those employed in the sector. She stressed that with their work and diligence those employed in the tourist sector showed that this was not just an economic branch and a way of subsistence, but also a cause.

Despite the ongoing crisis in 2020, there was interest in the competition. Nearly 50 candidates applied for participation in 10 categories in the competition. 
During the online vote, nearly 33,000 votes were cast, with the greatest interest in the Grand Prize "The Choice of Bulgarians". More than 11,000 users voted for the Historical Park near the village of Neofit Rilski, Varna region. It was chosen among all the tourist sites included in the "100 national tourist sites" and "50 little known places".
