Orlin Goranov is one of Bulgaria’s most popular pop singers, a favourite performer of generations of Bulgarians at home and abroad. Among his most famous hits are "The world is made for two", "A childhood memory" (duet with pop singer Kristina Dimitrova), "Let's start over", and others. Gifted with a wonderful voice, artistic presence and huge talent, he performs with equal ease also on the opera stage, in the cinema, and in recent months has been appearing as a very successful TV show host.
March 2020 saw the online premiere of Orlin Goranov’s song "Tunnel of Loneliness" - music by Svetoslav Loboshki, lyrics by Snezhina Temelkova-Staykova.
"I am pursuing my dream through a tunnel of loneliness… this world is a world for two… Loneliness is a happy thing when it gives me new strength to look forward to every new moment…"
The lyrics of the song written a few years ago, but they are quite relevant these days, full of optimism and hope that there is "a light at the end of the tunnel".
"This year just passed by, quickly and imperceptibly, against the background of the absurd "palette" of all sorts of moods and expectations”, Orlin Goranov sums up the outgoing 2020 in brief. “So far such a miracle has not happened – neither to me nor to anyone else. On the one hand, we were all shocked. On the other hand, I was glad that this is an opportunity for nature to recover from the pollution that human activity causes. I tried to see something positive in this whole negative situation. People were quarantined, locked in their homes, which led to something very dangerous – lack of socialization. But I hope that life will go back to normal and people will be able to meet, hug, enjoy each other, share their lives. Everyone has dreams and things that make them happy. And without the people we love, this can't happen."
In August, in the interval between restrictions and prohibitions, Orlin Goranov recorded the song "My Life" - music by Mitko Gidishki, lyrics by Ivan Tenev. "Day after day you grow old inside of me, youth ... And without sadness I look back with quiet joy, and the young memory goes hand in hand with me in the night… A thousand times I made mistakes, a thousand times I forgave myself… A thousand times I didn't say, "No!" A thousand times my heart broke in my chest. And only now did I understand this secret… Life for me is here and now, and I know how to live.”
"As the sages say, when you lose something, you don't know what you gain," Orlin Goranov continues. “We lost a lot of time waiting to see our audience again, waiting to be able to do what we live for. The performing arts cannot be developed only online, because there are people on the stage who share themselves for the sake of other people - the audience. This is where the magic occurs. Everyone needs to enter the concert hall, to separate themselves from everyday life, to dream. I am convinced that we will soon have the opportunity to do this again. Yes, life is good and it goes on! I am currently realizing old dreams of mine. I have been teaching pop and jazz singing at the Southwestern University for eight years now. Recently, I have been the host of a prime-time show on the Bulgarian National Television related to the memory stored by Bulgaria’s 60-year-old national television. This is an opportunity for people to relax, to learn interesting facts stored in the Golden Fund of the BNT. I hope it's nice and fun for our viewers. "
"My wish for the friends of Radio Bulgaria is "not to change the wavelength". Wherever they are in the world, I know that they carry Bulgaria with them, in their souls and hearts, because Bulgaria is the most beautiful place on the planet. I would be very happy if all Bulgarians who went around the world in search of happiness and realization come home one day, we will be waiting for them. And let the foreigners who are interested in our country know that those who treat it with love, we also welcome with love. I wish everyone not to be afraid to make their dreams come true. Life is wonderful!“
