"Our expectations are that this country would join the eurozone in 2024." This was what Minister of Finance Kiril Ananiev said during the online edition of the annual Euromoney Central and Eastern European Forum, the press center of the Ministry of Finance has reported. Minister Ananiev pointed out that Bulgaria’s successful membership in the euro area required good preparation of business and society for a smooth and fast transition from payments in BGN to payments in EUR.

The Minister announced that a National Plan for the Introduction of the Euro in Bulgaria was being prepared and it would describe in detail the activities to be undertaken by the Bulgarian authorities and business for the successful introduction of the single European currency in the country.
