The Bulgarian MPs are back in parliament after their 3-week Christmas break for the last, 44th plenary session of the National Assembly, BNR’s Dobrina Karambolova reports. The political forces presented their priorities until the end of parliament’s term of office – 26 March.
The ruling GERB party urged President Rumen Radev to make a decision on the date of the upcoming parliamentary elections as soon as possible. Daniela Daritkova, chair of GERB’s parliamentary group stated that the “medical crisis and mitigating its economic impact are the only possible priorities in the current situation”.
The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) demanded a report from the government on the state they are leaving Bulgaria in, “but not the TV kind, a genuine report”. The BSPaccused Prime Minister Boyko Borissov of declaring, from the TV screen, that Bulgaria “has the lowest deficit in Europe, while leaving the real-life country with a 20 billion euro debt”.
