A new personal document "Bulgarian origin card" will entitle foreigners of Bulgarian descent to work, study and reside in Bulgaria. This country’s National Assembly adopted at first reading amendments to the Bulgarian Personal Documents Act.

The issuance procedure will be similar to the issuance of Bulgarian personal documents. It will be preceded by certificate of Bulgarian origin issued by the State Agency for Bulgarians Abroad. Bulgarians from Bulgarian historical communities who were not born in the country and people who emigrated after 1989 will be able to receive the card, BTA reported.
