26 Bulgarian villages still without electricity after torrential rains

A hearing of Bulgaria’s Minister of Interior Hristo Terziiski, this country’s Minister of Energy Temenuzhka Petkova, Bulgaria’s Minister of Economy Lachezar Borisov and this country’s Minister of Environment and Water Emil Dimitrov on the situation in the country after the heavy rains is being held at the Bulgarian National Assembly.

Water volumes had to be released from some dams, in order to control the water levels. Curently no dams are posing a risk to people's lives, Bulgaria’s Minister of Interior Hristo Terziiski said at the hearing. He pointed out that a partial state of emergency has been declared in a number of Bulgarian municipalities. Bulgaria’s Minister of Energy Temenuzhka Petkova announced that 26 settlements in mountain areas are still without electricity. Despite the failure of four power lines in recent days, the energy system as a whole is operating in a safe and stable manner, she said.
