The water level of Tundzha River near the town of Elhovo, Yambol district, near the Bulgaria-Turkey border, has risen by more than a meter in the last 24 hours. Drainage of yards and basements in Straldzha and Bolyarovo municipalities continues.

The situation in Yambol district is gradually returning to normal after the record-high amounts of precipitation, which exceeded more than twice the monthly norm. Several tributaries of Tundzha River overflowed and flooded hundreds of acres of agricultural land.

In Yambol, the level of Tundzha River fell slightly this morning, but in Elhovo the water level continues to rise and has already reached 310 cm with a flood threshold level of 395 cm, BNR correspondent in Yambol Daniela Kostova reported.
