Two candidates for director general of BTA

Two application for director general of the Bulgarian News Agency - BTA were submitted to the parliament before the deadline – 18:00 o’clock on January 15. Kiril Valchev has been nominated by the ruling GERB party. Ivaylo Danailov has been nominated by the opposition BSP party. Both have a professional connection with BTA in different periods of their careers. Valchev is an active radio journalist and legal advisor at the agency. Danailov started working at BTA as a translator and journalist. He was editor-in-chief of the Press Photo service and media adviser to Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev.

According to law, the candidates will first be checked for belonging to the repressive apparatus of the old regime, BTA reported.
