Bulgaria can deny access to Balkan Stream gas pipeline

Photo: novosti.rs

Bulgaria has the right to deny access to Balkan Stream's gas infrastructure. This is what the MPs wrote in the final amendments to the Energy Act. The right of this country to refuse access to the gas pipeline is related to the European directive on gas infrastructure from 2019, BNR’s Dobrina Karambolova reported.

The changes also eliminate the 5% fee paid to the Electricity System Security Fund by producers of electricity from renewable energy sources. Adopted changes envisage that producers with a total installed capacity of 500 kilowatts to 1 megawatt will be able to enter the free market.

Tenders for reservation of cold reserve capacities for production of electricity have been canceled.
