Problems plaguing Bulgarian judiciary are systemic

The role of the Prosecutor General, his accountability and criminal responsibility is not the only problem of the justice system in Bulgaria and the fight against corruption. This was what U.S. Embassy Resident Legal Advisor Jessica Kim has said. In a discussion organized by the Atlantic Club, Kim pointed out that the problems stem from the judiciary, which is not independent in general, the way the Supreme Judicial Council is formed, the problems with media independence and the steps made by politicians to weaken the judiciary. All of them lead to the inability of the country to deal with corruption in the upper levels of power, the advisor said, 24chasa.com writes.
