“Kozlodyu NPP-New Build” Plc and NuScale Power LLC have signed a memorandum of understanding to consider deploying NuScale’s small modular reactor technology at the Kozlodyu site, two companies announced.

The document implements the cabinet’s decision, taken on November 14, 2020, to study the possibility of building another nuclear facility at Kozlodyu nuclear power plant in the context of the EU targets to ensue energy diversification and climate neutrality by 2050.

The memorandum of understanding is a proven commercial practice for projects of mutual interest which does not impose obligation for future investment decision or financial costs, reads the joint statement.
