Nearly 5.8 million tons of wheat will be produced in Bulgaria in 2021. This is the forecast of the Center for Economic Research in Agriculture, BTA has reported. This is 15% more than the yields in 2020. According to the initial forecasts of the Center, the average wheat yield will be 490 kg. per decare.

Severe weather conditions and natural disasters in 2020 caused drop in yields to pre-2015 levels with only 394 kg per decare. The situation in Dobrudzha was especially dramatic as there were areas with less than 150 kilograms per decare.

2020 was also a bad year for rapeseed producers, as yields fell to the lowest level in the past 10 years. Now the forecast is for a 25% rise in rapeseed production.
