Large-scale military exercise begins in the Rhodopes

A joint exercise is to take place in the region of Smolyan as of today until 27 March – Rhodopes 21, with the participation of more than 240 personnel from the land forces command, the 101st Alpine regiment, the 110th logistics regiment, the Charalitsa national military training complex, the Military Medical Academy and the NATO Mountain Warfare Centre of Excellence, the Ministry of Defence has announced.

The exercise aims to enhance interaction and interoperability of the formations in winter mountain conditions and boost tactical survival skills. On 19 March the participants will demonstrate camping, survival, search and rescue, as well as medical evacuation skills in rough terrain in the region of Golyam Perelik peak.
