Ten-day lockdown starts in Bulgaria today

Additional anti-epidemic measures are in force in Bulgaria in the period March 22- 31. The reason is the rise in the number of Covid-19 patients and those hospitalized. The malls are closed, except for the grocery stores, bank offices and offices of telecommunications operators located in them. Visits to catering and entertainment establishments are suspended, as only the delivery and taking of food home are allowed. Hotel guests will have their meals in the rooms. Gyms and halls for group trainings are closed. Students switch to electronic training. No more than 15 people are allowed to attend private gatherings. Group tourist trips are also suspended.

Over 20% positive coronavirus tests for yet another day

There are 943 newly registered Covid-19 infections in this country, or 21.4% out of the 4,410 tests performed over the past 24 hours, Single Coronavirus Information Portal data indicate. This is the 7th consecutive day on which more than 20% of the tests performed have returned positive result. A total of 303,423 coronavirus infections have been registered in Bulgaria since the first case reported a little over a year ago. 56,633 out of them are currently active. The number of recoveries in the past 24 hours reached 534 and 53 Coronavirus patients passed away, bringing the death toll to 12,019. A total 8,660 coronavirus patients are being treated in hospital, 690 of them in intensive care wards. 2,358 doses of vaccine have been administered in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of vaccinations to 368, 905. The number of revaccinations is 71,224.

Man with positive PCR tests travels from France to Bulgaria on bus full of passengers

A man with a positive coronavirus test travelled from France to Kalotina border checkpoint on the Bulgarian border on a bus full of passengers, bTV reports. It was in Bulgaria when it was found out that he was infected. The bus started out from Rennes in France for Bulgaria. The passenger who boarded the bus in Paris, produced a PCR test, but the document was in French and the drivers could not read French. So, the passenger travelled on the bus full of passengers across France, Germany, Austria, Hungary and Serbia. It was only in Kalotina that health inspectors ascertained that the man’s PCR test result was positive and decided to leave him on the back seat of the vehicle but the other passengers forced him off the bus.
