The Day of Thrace should take its rightful place in Bulgaria's official holiday calendar, said Bulgaria's Vice President Iliana Iotova, who bowed before the Edirne Epic Battle monument in Sofia.

"The Day of Thrace is a celebration of the will for freedom, unity and justice, on which we glorify the feat of the Bulgarian soldiers who won the victory at Edirne with their courage and blood. We bow our heads to the memory of our ancestors who were killed and expelled from their native lands in 1913," Iotova said at the traditional celebration organized by the Union of Thracian Societies in Bulgaria.
Vice President Iotova pointed out that the Bulgarian state continued to be indebted to the Thracian refugees, BTA reported.
