Irrespective of how and when a new government in Bulgaria will be formed, Sofia and Skopje should lose no time and must take concrete steps towards each other. The two countries must free the way for Northern Macedonia's accession negotiations with the European Union to start as soon as possible, Austria’s Minister for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs Alexander Schallenberg said in an interview for MIA News Agency.

Schallenberg insists that bilateral and historical issues be separated from the process leading to the start of negotiations between North Macedonia and the EU. Austria is ready to become a mediator in bilateral negotiations if necessary, said Minister Schallenberg, reported BGNES
