Starting May 1:

Entry into Bulgaria possible with vaccination certificate, negative PCR test or document for recovery from Covid-19

Health authorities in Bulgaria have decided to introduce loosening of some of the restrictive measures against the spread of the coronavirus. From as tomorrow (April 24), in-person training in educational centers at a physical distance of at least 1.5 metres, mandatory masks and disinfection every hour is allowed. This was announced by the outgoing Minister of Health Kostadin Angelov, BNR reported.

For the upcoming holidays of Palm Sunday and Easter, the churches will be with free access but social distancing and protective masks remain mandatory. Believers are advised not to kiss the icons. The willow branches on Palm Sunday will be distributed outside the churches as  the police will monitor for the observance of public order.

In connection with the start of the tourist season from May 1, tourists will be allowed to enter Bulgaria after showing one of three documents:
  • a vaccination certificate 
  • a negative PCR or antigen test 
  • a document for having recovered from Covid-19 which must be valid no earlier than 6 months before the date of entry into Bulgaria. .

Two days before the major football match between Bulgaria's most popular teams of Levski and CSKA Sofia, a decision was made to return the audience to the stadiums at 30% of the capacity, but with not more than 1,000 people per sector.
