Believers fill St. Nedelya church for Palm Sunday liturgy

Photo: BGNES

Dozens of believers filled the St. Nedelya church in Sofia today for the Palm Sunday liturgy.

Every attendee was able to take home willow twigs which have been blessed, as is customary on this day. By a tradition the twigs are made into wreaths or hung over doorways for health. The willow twigs symbolize the palm branches used to welcome Jesus Christ as he entered Jerusalem.

The liturgy took place in strict compliance with the anti-epidemic measures, and only people wearing face masks were allowed to enter the church.
