Bulgaria will ban the entry of arrivals from India and some other countries, outgoing Minister of Health Prof. Kostadin Angelov said at the weekly briefing on the current epidemic situation. More than 1 million citizens are currently protected by Covid-19, Angelov said, referring to the total number of recoveries and vaccinated people in this country. The levels of morbidity in Bulgaria are lower than those in neighboring countries, while the measures here are milder, the Minister pointed out and reported that there was a permanent trend in the decline of the number of newly infected.
The incidence of coronavirus infection in Bulgaria for the past 14 days was 332 cases per 100,000 of the population. According to this indicator, the country ranks 18th in the EU and in the European Economic Area. In the Balkans, Bulgaria holds 6th place. In terms of 14-day mortality, Bulgaria ranks second in the EU, after Hungary and third in the Balkans, Chief Health Inspector Assoc. Prof. Angel Kunchev said.
The first and second phases of the vaccination plan have been completely satisfying, Prof. Krassimir Gigov, head of the National Vaccine Task Force, said. “The most frequently used doses of vaccine have been those by Pfizer - 414,000, AstraZeneca - 256,000 and Moderna - 104,000. About 350,000 of the vaccines have been administered during the so-called green corridors in the hospitals and they continue to work during the holidays. General practitioners have administered more than 206,000 doses," Gigov added.
