The Association of European Journalists called on Bulgaria's caretaker cabinet to restore the Bulgarian National Radio’s budget subsidy to its original amount. In March and April this year, the budget of the Bulgarian National Radio was cut by a total of EUR 420,000. The former Borisov 3 cabinet justified its decision to cut subsidies for public media with the need of money to cover the additional costs of the Bulgarian Ministry of Health amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.
On this occasion, the Director General of the Bulgarian National Radio Andon Baltakov called for restoring the cut funding, stressing that unless this is done, the BNR will need to reduce operational costs.
