“We cannot keep rocking back and forth between what we are told by Washington and Brussels, or Moscow. The Bulgarian interest has to be the guiding line,” Krasimir Karakachanov, leader of VMRO party said, as quoted by the BNR.

He is proposing that the patriotic political formations run in the 11 July elections for parliament together, but without their leaders on their candidate lists. Krasimir Karakachanov explained that the disintegration of the patriotic coalition before the last elections on 4 April had been caused by problems among the leaders of the parties, and that that is why the leaders must take a step back so that the people who support the patriotic ideas will have someone to vote for.

At a meeting of the party's executive committee held today, VMRO decided it shall demand that Bulgaria become a presidential republic, as well as that regional self-government be stepped up, the number of members of parliament reduced, and an option to recall MPs if citizens are not happy with them.
