Registration for participation in the last project by Christo and Jean-Claude "L'Arc de Triomphe, Wrapped" starts on May 17. Those wishing to join the wrapping of one of the symbols of Paris can apply through the website of the unique artistic team. Those approved will also receive remuneration, we learn from the official Facebook page of the world-famous avant-garde artist of Bulgarian origin.

L'Arc de Triomphe, Wrapped – a project by Christo and Jean-Claude

“L'Arc de Triomphe, Wrapped” is one of the couple's projects, the conception of which started long time ago. The team is famous for "wrapping" monumental structures and natural sites using various fabrics. Their projects include the Pont Neuf Bridge in Paris, the Berlin Reichstag and the islands in Florida's Biscayne Bay. The idea for the project by Christo Javacheff and Jeanne-Claude Denat de Guillebon emerged back in 1962, when they lived in Paris. The actual planning for implementation started in 2018, when a decision was made for an exhibition dedicated to the work of the creative team at the Pompidou Centre.

The spread of the Covid-19 pandemic in early 2020 made Christo Javacheff postpone the project by a year - until the first autumn days of 2021. However, he will not see his project realized. Born in Gabrovo (the Bulgarian capital of humor satire), Christo left this world on May 31, 2020. On the same day, France announced that work on the project was proceeding according to plan, as this was the wish of the unique artist. Christo was an artist who possessed "the madness of grandeur and the genius of splendor," and his works "transformed buildings and landscapes around the world into poetic events," French President Emmanuel Macron said back then.

Cristo and the project for wrapping the Arc

L'Arc de Triomphe will be wrapped with 25,000 square meters of silver-blue recyclable polypropylene fabric fastened with 3,000 meters of red ropes.

People will be able to see the large-scale artwork for 16 days – from September 18 to October 3. The project is financed entirely by the sale of Christo's project documentation, including drawings and models, as well as original lithographs on other topics.
