Marie Vrinat-Nikolov is the winner of the Etienne Dolet Translation Prize for 2021, awarded by The Sorbonne. "This is an honor for Bulgarian literature, as well," Bulgarian writer Georgi Gospodinov wrote on Facebook.
He points out that Marie Vrinat-Nikolovis is one of the greatest Bulgarian translators, connoisseurs of Bulgarian literature. She is also the author of books on the theory and practice of translation. The award, established in the name of Etienne Dolet, a great humanist of the 16-th century, translator and author of the first treatise on French translation, aims to draw public attention to the contribution of translation to culture and knowledge.
The award is presented annually at The Sorbonne on September 30 on the occasion of International Translation Day.
