The uprising in the Balkan Mountain was declared on May 1, 1876 on Baban peak. Along with their husbands, women also took part in the battles. The ten-day battles in the mountain passes ended with the bloody defeat of the Balkan Republic in Batoshevo, Kravenik and Novo Selo.
