Bulgaria in pictures

During the holidays in Bulgaria many tourists paid a visit to “Trayanovi Vrata” Fortress (Gates of Trajan).

The fortress, included in "The 100 National Tourist Sites of Bulgaria", is located about 60 kilometers south of Sofia, near the "Trakia" motorway in Sredna Gora mountain range.

It is the most remarkable part of a large fortification complex, which stopped access to the way to Constantinople and the straits for centuries.

The place is associated with one of the most brilliant military victories in Bulgarian history - the triumph of Tsar Samuel against the army of Byzantine Emperor Basil II on August 17, 986.
