Bulgaria optimizes procedures for acquisition of citizenship

Bulgaria’s Ministry of Justice has launched public consultations on the amendments to the ordinance on the implementation of the Bulgarian Citizenship Act. Applicants will now be able to submit on-site applications, not only via the automated information system. People living abroad will be able to submit applications in the diplomatic and consular missions of the Republic of Bulgaria.

Due to the large number of people waiting to receive their certificates for Bulgarian citizenship, as of June 1, 2021, applicants are free to choose a date and receive their certificates in person.
