Caretaker cabinet reports on monthly work done

The more we work and dig into problems, the more chaos and lack of rules we find," caretaker Prime Minister Stefan Yanev said in the report of the government for the first month of his work.

"The realistic picture shows something we can call corruption disguised in some plausible and lawful form," Yanev said assessing the previous government.

Speaking about the major task of the government, which is preparation of the upcoming parliamentary elections, Yanev pointed out that an opportunity for the Central Election Commission to make an informed decision that is to ensure smooth election process has been provided. "We think that within the legal period we would have a decision, as well as a delivery of all 1,500 machines needed for the vote," Yanev said.

Minister of Interior Boyko Rashkov said there was no purge in the ministry and those fired can be counted on the fingers of one hand. He also promised fair elections and no vote-buying.

There is no risk for the EU money for Bulgaria. As early as 2021, 13% pre-financing will be transferred after the European Commission approved the Recovery Plan, Deputy Prime Minister for EU Funds, Atanas Pekanov, said.

We have been working with a very serious team in order to invite large companies such as Google and Amazon to come to Bulgaria. We have been working separately with the Bulgarian business in order for them to invite their partners from the 12 countries part of the Three Seas Initiative to the forthcoming meeting in Sofia. Bulgarian Minister of Economy Kiril Petkov said that the event would not be just photos and first acquaintances, but would bring real deals to Bulgarian companies.

Minister of Social Affairs, Galab Donev, said that the government would continue to pay 25-euro bonuses in addition to pensions and would raise the incomes of another 1.245 million retirees by 5%. Measures in support of the business will continue to function. Minister Donev also reported an annual decline in unemployment of 37%, to a level of 5.4 percent in June.

The poor results we report in the fight against the pandemic are due to the poor state of the healthcare system and the poor management of the crisis, Minister of Health Stoycho Katsarov said. The good news is the decline marked in the number of infected. Next week the country may enter the green zone showing a low risk of infection. Vaccine supplies will be available to the population throughout 2022 and 2023, Katsarov added.
