“There probably will be a deal for the purchase of new voting machines, though it has not been finalized. Everything will probably be clear by the end of the week,” deputy chair and spokesperson for the Central Election Commission (CEC) Tsvetozar Tomov told the BNR’s Horizont channel after a meeting between the CEC and voting machine manufacturer Smartmatic.

“We have no intention of spending taxpayers’ money indiscriminately,” Tsvetozar Tomov stated, and added that he hoped a price compromise would be reached on the machines’ logistics and transportation. They will be delivered from the Netherlands by truck. The machines for the polling places abroad will also be transported by land, a different mode of transport will be used to take them to the US.
