The requirements for holding an intergovernmental conference with the Republic of North Macedonia have not been met, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry announced. The government approved Bulgaria's position to participate in the General Affairs Council meeting to be held on June 22 in Luxembourg.

The Bulgarian position remains unchanged. The negotiating framework should contain the necessary guarantees for the implementation of the 2017 Friendship and Good Neighbourliness Agreement, which are not currently available.
At the same time, Bulgaria remains open to dialogue and is taking steps to build trust and return to a pragmatic and constructive dialogue, the Foreign Ministry said.
